Verity and ILS partner for Send a Kid to Camp

May 20, 2021

After a year of virtual and hybrid learning, summer camps, beginning next month, are an opportunity to bring our children back together. Building on a long relationship of service in the community, Verity Credit Union, in partnership with Illumination Learning Studio (ILS), will be sending 3 kids to summer camp in the inaugural Send a Kid to Camp initiative.

“Our themed weekly camps give kids the opportunity to connect with one another again, and help them express themselves through art, dance and performance,” said Molli Piper, co-owner and Program Director.

Amid the pandemic, Molli reached out to long-time community ally and partner Michael Wheeler at Verity Credit Union. For several years, the two have served together on the Small Business Advisory Board of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, participating in community events like Rainbow Hop and organizing an annual warm outerwear drive supporting FamilyWorks.

Molli hoped that ILS and Verity could partner again to create a meaningful initiative to benefit local school kids. Together, they developed Send a Kid to Camp.

“Verity’s vision centers on fostering cooperative communities who dream boldly,” said Michael Wheeler, community branch manager. “Partnering with Illumination Learning Studio for Send a Kid to Camp is just one way we’re bringing that vision to life. We look forward to helping more kids and community members achieve their dreams.”

“Remote learning has been difficult for many students during the last two school years,” Molli said. We’re grateful to partner with Verity again to help our kids transition back into in-person learning and discovery.”

ILS’ weekly themed summer camps running at their Ballard and Greenwood studios beginning June 21st.
