Illumination Learning Studio is a cultural, performing and fine arts academy with two locations in Ballard and Greenwood.  We provide an inclusive learning environment where students engage in stimulating lesson plans, projects, games and structured curriculum.  Our teachers are specialized in the arts and early childhood education.

We have an immediate opening for a Part-time (22.5-hours a week) position in our Afternoon (afterschool) Arts Program as Studio Site Supervisor. In this role, you will supervise 1-2 after school assistant and ensure the implementation of our cultural, performing and fine arts curriculum consistent with ILS standards. You will be responsible for maintaining positive student and parent relations, conducting brief student town hall meetings for 20-30 students K-5th, assist in arts lesson planning, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of your site.

Our Studio Site Supervisors work as a collaborative team to create and deliver fun and engaging lesson plans and activities in a safe and caring environment. Students in our programs gain exposure to interactive learning, music, performing, and fine arts. Hours: Part-time, M-F, 22.5 Hours per week (20 hours onsite)
Schedule: M/T/TH/F 1:45pm-6:00pm and W 12:45pm-6pm
Pay-range: $18-$20
Reports to: Director of Operations with an in-direct line to Program Director

Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Parent Liaison – Greet parents and students of afternoon classes, maintains daily email correspondence with managers and parents regarding absences and other business.
  • Team Leadership – holds the onsite team accountable for safety protocol, adherence to dress code, employee handbook policies, conducting daily team huddles to ensure organization of daily activities, preparing creative stations and class activities, and manage resolution of behavior issues.
  • After school classes with students – follows daily schedule, ensures classroom management procedures are followed, maintains safe and inclusive environment for all students and staff, emergency procedures, ensure ILS student/teacher ratio is met, participates and ensure creative centers and townhalls run smoothly. Fills in for staff members who call out as needed.
  • Site Maintenance– Open and close the site following procedures provided, ensures outside cleanliness, organizes seasonal decoration set up, places weekly supply order, completes routine maintenance request forms, ensure studio cleanliness, restocks restrooms and ensures building is securely locked each night.
  • Administrative – prints weekly rosters, checks phone and email messages multiple times a day, notifies van drivers of student absences, manages staff call outs and attendance tracking, team member performance tracking, team recognition and birthdays, and co-writes our monthly parent newsletters.

Education and Skills Required

  • Prior experience in early childhood learning
  • Prior experience in team building, team leadership, supervisory or management role
  • Exhibits a passion for high-quality early childhood education and culture
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling student/ parent relations
  • Ability to contribute to the classroom and work environment in a positive manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and classroom management skills; Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling sensitive and confidential issues with discretion
  • Computer skills including experience with Drop Box, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Email Service


  • B.A. in early childhood learning or relevant areas
  • 2-3 years of teaching experience in high quality early childhood education programs
  • 1-2 years in supervisory role
