Pre-K Lead Teacher

Illumination Learning Studio is a cultural, performing and fine arts academy with four locations in Ballard, Greenwood and Phinney Ridge.  We provide an inclusive learning environment where students engage in stimulating lesson plans, projects, games and structured curriculum.  Our teachers are specialized in the arts and early childhood education.

We are looking for a Pre-K Lead Teacher to join our team. This role will lead our Pre-K school (Ages 4 and 5) at our Greenwood Location. The lead teacher is responsible for delivering class content that includes yoga, Intro To Spanish and art. Our student to teacher ration is 10:1.

Job Types: Part Time

Hours: Monday-Friday, 20 Hours per week

Pay: $19-21/hour, depends on experience

Reports to: Program Director

Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Pre-K curriculum.
  • Parent liaison greets parents and students to the preschool, daily email correspondence with managers and parents and regarding absences.
  • Ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors within the studio.
  • Holds the onsite team accountable for safety procedures, conduct daily team huddles to ensure organization of daily activities, and manage resolution of behavior issues.
  • Prints weekly lesson plans, prepare stations and class activities, ensure the studio is clean and sanitized after school.
  • Tracks each student’s progress and plans two parent-teacher conferences per year.
  • Write and develop our monthly preschool newsletter using Mailchimp.
  • Upholds ILS Values and ensures team members adhere to our values.

Education and Skills Required

  • Prior experiences teaching in a Pre-K program.
  • Have passion for high-quality early childhood education and culture
  • Computer skills including experience with Drop Box, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Email Service
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and use of tools such as email.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling student/ parent relations
  • Ability to engage and further educate students
  • Ability to contribute to the classroom and work environment in a positive manner
  • Ability to work independently or with supervisors and staff
  • Ability to communicate in an effective manner with supervisors, students, and parents.

Education and Skills Preferred

  • B.A. or equivalent experience in Early Childhood Education
