ILS Apr. Parent Newsletter

April 01, 2019

Happy spring, everyone! We hope all of our students are on the mend and feeling better, as so many people were hit by the flu this year.

Student Progress Reports are out!
By now families should have received our student’s ILS Progress Reports. Hopefully you can see just how much our Creative Arts Team and Site Teams enjoy working with your talented kids. It’s a fun time for us, too, reading through the comments and insights for each of our students. This is only our second year doing these and we would appreciate any feedback you have so that we can continue to make these impactful and useful.

May 10th – ILS Student Art Showcase during Art Walk
We are now turning our attention to preparing for the Student Art Showcase that is happening on May 10th, during the Phinneywood Art Walk in Greenwood.  Mark your calendars and stop in to see the masterpieces and works that Mr. Sam has been working on with the students this year.

New Preschool Coming to ILS Locks this Fall
We have some new developments we are working on for the fall. Ms. Molli is adding a new half-day preschool at the Locks in September.  Our preschool program at Piper’s Creek has been really successful and we are hoping to add many new faces in Ballard. There will be an open house on May 18th at 11:00am. We would appreciate any referrals you might have for families with 2-3 year olds looking for an early learning arts immersion program. RSVP here.

That’s it for our updates. Have a great Spring Break and we will see everyone back on April 15th!

What we are up to in April

Voice with Mr. Nick

The month of April will encompass the music of North America. We will have a special focus on music as a tool of protest and resistance.

Dance with Ms. Meowset

In April, students will learn about traditional Thai dance, and the culture of Thailand. Students will learn about the stories that drive Thai dance, and get to perform their own version of Thai dances.

Art with Mr. Sam

In April, students will be completing their decorations and art portfolios for the art show on May 10th.

Music with Ms. Candice

In April, students will be studying musical theatre, and beginning to look at minor and major chords.

Drama with Ms. Taylor

For the month of April, students will be filming their original films which will be showcased at the end of the year!
