Do you have a passion for the arts, drama, dance, or music? Have you been looking to begin or continue your professional career in education? We are looking for creative and reliable individuals for our afternoon cultural, performing and fine arts programs as an Assistant with a team of 4-5 others.

As an afternoon cultural arts assistant you will directly work with children in a group setting of 25-30 students. You will help our teachers in their class and experience performing and fine arts class curriculum. This is an excellent opportunity for you to expand your experience and increase your knowledge as a teacher. Many of our assistants have moved into a site supervisor or teaching role within our company, and many of our previous team members became teachers or school counselors within a public/private school setting.

Pay Range: $18.69-21.00/hour

Job Type: Part-time afternoons, 21-hours per week,

Schedule: M,T,Th,F 2-6pm and W 12:45pm-6pm

Reports To: Site Supervisor with an indirect line to Program Director

Illumination Learning Studio provides after-school cultural, performing and fine arts classes for ages K-5th grade with two locations serving Ballard and Phinney Ridge. We are NW Seattle’s premier studio for performing and fine arts classes offering music lessons in piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, performance, dance and fine arts. We also run a half-day preschool with an arts immersion and academic focus, as well as Summer Camps and School Year Camps for K-5th grades. For more about our programs visit www.ILSKids.com

We are specialized instructors and teaching assistants who work collaboratively to create and deliver sensational cultural, performing and fine arts-focused lessons. Students in our programs gain valuable exposure to Music, Drama, Fine-Arts, Movement/Dance and Voice activities after school and on evenings and weekends. We work hard to provide an inclusive atmosphere where students thrive in a stimulating learning environment with ongoing projects, games and structured activities. Our staff are university educated early childhood instructors and teachers who are passionate about the arts.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
  • Assist in running successful afternoon classes
  • Lead & participate in activities with students
  • Maintain saftey of students in and out of studio
  • Assist in walking group from nearby schools
  • Greet parents and students to and from classes
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of studios
  • Encourage the learning and proper behavior of students
Education and Skills Required
  • Have a passion for early childhood education in fine art, drama, dance, music
  • Prior experience in working with children
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling student/ parent relations
  • Ability to engage, encourage, and further educate students
  • Be self-motivated, organized and open-minded
  • Ability to work independently or with supervisors and staff
  • Ability to communicate in an effective manner with supervisors and students
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
Preferred
  • Experience in childcare or education, and working with groups of 20-30 students
