More Ways to Create & Move at ILS Greenwood
There’s something special about the start of a new school year—the familiar faces, new friends, fresh ideas, and the excitement of discovering what comes next. At Illumination Learning Studio, we’re especially excited about a few changes this year that bring us back to some of the things we love most about learning together.
Preschool & PreK Are Back at Our Greenwood Studio
This year, we’re bringing back more opportunities for our Preschool and PreK students to mingle and build relationships throughout the day, while maintaining separate learning spaces for age-appropriate instruction.
During snack time and outdoor walks, the two groups will come together for extra social time, conversation, and play. When it’s time to learn, students will return to their individual classrooms for focused exploration in drama, visual art, letters, writing, and other weekly learning units.
It’s a balance we love: children have the opportunity to develop independence and confidence within their own classroom community while also getting to know the children and teachers around them.
At ILS, we believe children learn best when they have opportunities to connect, create, and express themselves. Our fine arts focus—through drama, visual art, music, and movement—gives children meaningful ways to explore ideas, build confidence, and learn alongside one another. Sometimes that means sharing a snack or taking a walk together; other times, it means collaborating on a performance, experimenting with materials, or finding their own creative voice.
This year gives us the opportunity to do both.
More Music for Saturday Mornings
We’re also expanding our weekend music programming with two Saturday classes designed for different stages of early musical development. On September 12 we’ll have a trial class at the start of our 10-week sessions. Learn more here: https://www.illuminationlearningstudio.com/classes/music_and_movement/
Music & Movement | Ages 18 Months–3 Years
Our popular Music & Movement class is back for our youngest musicians. This caregiver-and-child class introduces children to music through singing, movement, and playful musical exploration.
It’s a chance for little ones to experiment, listen, move, and make music alongside someone they love.
Music Makers | Ages 4–6
New this year is Music Makers, a drop-off introductory music class for children ages 4–6.
As children become ready for more independent learning, Music Makers gives them the opportunity to explore music through singing, rhythm, piano, listening games, musical patterns, and more.
The class is designed to help children begin developing the skills that support confident musicianship—including listening, rhythm, musical memory, coordination, focus, and independence.
Together, these two classes create a musical pathway that grows with children: from those first joyful explorations with a caregiver to more intentional, independent music-making.
A Year of Making, Moving, Creating & Growing.
From our Greenwood Preschool and PreK classrooms to Saturday music classes, our goal remains the same: to give children meaningful opportunities to create, explore, connect, and discover what they can do.
