Dear ILS Families,

Annual ILS Student Art Show
On display at Phinneywood ArtWalk May 11th

We are busy preparing for this year’s Phinneywood ArtWalk on Friday, May 11th from 6:00-9:00.  This is our annual showcase of student art from all four of our locations, so we encourage you to bring your student and stop by for some refreshments.  Families like to make an night of it by having dinner in Greenwood and then exploring all of the great art that comes to our neighboring businesses.  New this year, some of our instructors and team will showcase their personal art as well.  This is always a fun event!

Students Need Water Bottles Packed Daily
As the weather begins to get warmer, we ask that you pack a water bottle with your child that can be used at ILS or at the park after school.  We often try to get out in the afternoons and water bottles can help the students stay hydrated and feeling well.

NEW Spring Referral Promotion – $250 for you and your referral
Fall Enrollment for brand new students is underway and we are excited to welcome all of our new friends next year.  We have an exciting offer for current families during May and June.  Refer new after school students for Fall enrollment to receive a $250 credit to be used on tuition, school year camps, music or art lessons starting in September.  Your referral family will also receive a $250 credit in their second month of enrollment in our after school classes, school year camps, music or art lessons.

Thank you,
Your friends and teachers at Illumination Learning Studio!

Here’s a preview of what students will be working on, in May!

Mr. Nick’s Voice Class
The month of May will mostly encompass the music of Asia/Oceania, especially in preparation for Spring Showcase. Students will also be continuing working on more advanced sight-singing, now utilizing more music theory and textural elements.

Ms. Meowset’s Dance Class
In May, we will be practicing and preparing for our spring performance!

Ms. Jessie’s Music Class
Starting in May we will explore music in film. Students will be introduced to accomplished female and racially diverse film score composers in addition to big names like John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Together, we will explore and discuss the many ways music is used to elevate film-making.

Ms. Taylor’s Drama Class
For the month of May we will be focusing on our upcoming spring performance. Students will participate in auditions and learn our songs for the first couple weeks, then we will dive into our full rehearsals. I am excited to begin rehearsals and to continue working with the amazing ILS students!

Mr. Sam’s Fine Arts Class
This month we are all about ArtWalk. ILS will be showcasing student artwork at our Greenwood location, as well as some of the art of our talented teachers and teams. We hope all of our parents can make it out to see their student’s art and to help us support our talented little artists!

Join us on Saturday, June 2nd, 11-am-1pm for the 6th annual PhinneyWood Pride Rainbow Hop which celebrates love and solidarity with our LGBTQ families and friends! Once again, we are hosting our Kids Rainbow Balloon Dance Party at our Greenwood location where we’ll also have treats, giveaways, and lots of fun!
